Q-90 Chemical Safety Cabinet

The Q-90 is a chemical safety cabinet with 90 minutes of fire resistance, for storing flammable liquids and other hazardous substances where a longer rating is required. Four sizes are available, all 1953 mm high and 615 mm deep, in widths from 599 to 1193 mm, with capacities from 387 to 903 litres and three movable shelves in each cabinet. The range covers both Q-PEGASUS and Q-PHOENIX models.

What a 90-minute fire rating means

A fire-rated chemical cabinet is built to hold its contents below ignition temperature for a stated period once a fire starts around it, giving people time to leave the building and the fire service time to arrive before the stored substances make the fire worse. Ninety minutes is the longer of the two ratings we stock, and is often specified for larger volumes of flammable liquid. Whether 90 minutes is required at your premises is a question of national workplace-safety law and your own fire risk assessment, so confirm the requirement with your safety officer or local authority before ordering.

Sizes and alternatives

The tall Q-90 cabinet suits a laboratory, workshop or chemical store where containers are stood on shelves and reached at eye level. Where 30 minutes is sufficient, the Q-30 range is the same tall format at a shorter rating. Where floor space is tight, the UB-90 range gives the same 90 minutes in an under-bench cabinet, 600 to 800 mm high, that fits beneath a laboratory bench or fume cupboard.
